Professional with expert in one area like "C" or "PHP" or "ASP" are high demand in last few years.computer networking traininghttp://www.centennialcollege.ca/Programs/ProgramOverview.aspx?Program=0101&Calendar=2010-2011noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20355581.post-89471704948565286972010-01-23T07:07:27.534-06:002010-01-23T07:07:27.534-06:00You're right, Tanton... you're old fashion...You're right, Tanton... you're old fashioned. ;-)

It's hard to predict the future, but we've seen little difference in the types of jobs BA and BS in CS have been offered. Someone with a BS in SD will actually have much more exposure to CS topics than a BS in CS major.

Maybe the unfamiliarity of SD will cause some prospective employers to first wonder a little about the degree, but this might be a degree that starts being adopted by other universities in the future. Loyola offers one, for example.Frank McCownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12155866661529445991noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20355581.post-26377795685800784042010-01-23T00:05:34.278-06:002010-01-23T00:05:34.278-06:00In my mind, there is a strong question as to wheth...In my mind, there is a strong question as to whether or not enterprise apps can be successfully outsourced. If it can, then I think the value of a degree like this goes down. Another reason the value might go down is that current engineers might want future engineers to have the same degree they do. They might look upon a new degree with suspicion. Perhaps I'm old fashioned, but I want my programmers to have a strong math background so that they understand purity of proofs, efficiency, problem solving, etc...Tantonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08601404650352658381noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20355581.post-55530580128710935022010-01-22T16:17:32.899-06:002010-01-22T16:17:32.899-06:00It's a BS degree, not a BA degree.
I think it...It's a BS degree, not a BA degree.

I think it will be quite popular. Over time we guess probably 1/3 of our students will major in BS SD, 1/3 in BS CS, and another 1/3 in BA CS.Frank McCownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12155866661529445991noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20355581.post-38372272794421272662010-01-22T13:11:58.635-06:002010-01-22T13:11:58.635-06:00Sounds like a great idea ;) I'm all about extr...Sounds like a great idea ;) I'm all about extra CS classes

Question: Should

"The BS in SD degree is different from the BA in CS in the following ways:"

read...

"The BA in SD degree is different from the BA in CS in the following ways:" instead?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14667340517136058696noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20355581.post-25654180963540291032010-01-22T11:51:31.474-06:002010-01-22T11:51:31.474-06:00that sounds like a great idea and a potentially po...that sounds like a great idea and a potentially popular degree.Dr. Burthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00314470481323870069noreply@blogger.com
