I actually had to adjust code this year so that 30 year mortgage calculations would not hit that wall. It was funny to me that a lot of the recommended solutions at that time just pushed the problem forward to 2106 (unsigned bit version). The rationale was that "I won't have to maintain or fix it and my software probably won't be in use at that point anyways". It feels like I have heard that justification for other bugs that were dumped on my lap...
